Provincial Bank of Ireland Limited, One Pound 1925. Irish Free State issue, the final Provincial Bank issue before the Ploughman notes and Northern Ireland issue entered circulation. 1 cm tear on top centre and 2 pin holes, numbers written on face and reverse, otherwise a decent crisp VF. A presentable example of a late pre-partition banknote. This type is common as an unissued remainder note, and quite scarce in issued form.
Six of the joint Stock Banks in Ireland had the right to issue banknotes, and these issues formed the currency circulating on the island of Ireland prior to partition. Subsequently, the issues of the banks were replaced by the Ploughman and Lavery notes after 1928.I normally post within 3 days. NOTE: Posting might be delayed due to CORONA outbreak quarantine.
