Bank of Ireland, One Pound, dated 13 June 1922. All Ireland issue. Nice Fine
Bank of Ireland, One Pound, dated 13 June 1922. Irish Free State issue, the first Bank of Ireland design to be printed on the reverse. A decent example of a relatively scarce early Irish Free State issue, and one of the classic Irish banknote designs featuring a row of Mercury heads and twin Hibernia statues, in use from 1838 up to 1958. A bit soiled, 5mm tear on top edge and two other tiny edge nicks, on top and bottom centre, otherwise a crisp Fine.

No writing or pin holes. Six of the joint Stock Banks in Ireland had the right to issue banknotes, and these issues formed the currency circulating on the island of Ireland prior to partition. Subsequently, the issues of the banks were replaced by the Ploughman and Lavery notes after 1928. Post Free to all destinations.
