1918 One Pound Cerutty/Collins R21 Very Good. The "Treasury" series of Australian banknotes was on issue between 1913 and around 1923 - these notes are referred to as "Treasury" notes by collectors because they were the first Australian banknotes issued for the Australian Commonwealth Treasury. There were a number of changes made to the way Australia's currency notes were printed in the decade between 1913 and 1923 - not only did the signatories change from Collins and Allen to Cerutty and Collins, but the format of the serial numbers added to each of the notes changed several times also. As the Australian economy recovered following the end of World War I, more currency notes were printed than was necessary during the war.
This note has better eye appeal than a lot of other notes in this price range - it has no holes, tears or serious stains that so many other. There is some minor paper separation on the top and bottom edges where the centrefold ends; there are some tone spots evident in the margins on the front. The edges remain intact right the way around, there is some paper thinning on the centre and quarter folds on the back.
